Tattoo removal using Q-switched laser
Which tattoos can undergo removal?
Professional, unprofessional tattoos, permanent make-up, traumatic tattoos. Most of them are with bad quality – the paint is unprofessional, deeply impasted on the contrary – quite superficially.
What happens during the procedure?
The characteristic of the laser irradialtion chosen,in Q-switched is the same, the colorants devour the impulses much stronger than the surrounding skin elements. When devouring the laser impulses, the colorant granules explode. As a result, a great amount of small fragments are being formed. They penetrate the lymphatic tissue unobstructed and are released naturally by the organism.
Can all colours be removed?
The irradiation with a wave length 1064 nm is used for removal of black, brown, grey and dark blue tattoos (dark colorants), and irradiation with wave length 532 nm - for tattoos in green and red colour. Not every colorant is succumbed to a successful removal. The decoloration of yellow, white and light blue colorants is a bit less effective.
What is to be expected after the procedure?
The visible reaction regarding tattoos with dark colorants is instant lightening of the painting, and the skin resembles "lemon peel". In a minute the colour recovers again and it even intensifies, the treated area is with a slight swelling and redness around the tattoo. When the tattoo is treated with red or green colorant the skin reaction is not so rapid but it is possible that small bruises would appear.
Is one procedure enough?
The tattoos cannot be decolorized by one procedure. During every procedure the colorants react in layers – from the most-superficial to deeper disposed and the colour of the tattoo gradually lightens. The number of procedures depends on the colorant quality, by the means it's been impasted, by the depth and density of its penetration in the skin.
What is the interval between the procedures?
The time required for resorbtion and abolition of the broken pigment fragments is at least 3 weeks. This is exactly what indicates the interval between the procedures.
Is there any difference in the different tattoos removal?
Paintings impasted with blue ink or colorants that are designed strictly for tattoos are easily removed. Longer time is required for tattoos with a constituted scar. It is hard to decolorize traumatic tattoos. In such cases we are dealing with huge intradermal fragments. The worst scenario is a tattoo impasted with a chemical ink. The procedure effect on such a tattoo is minimal.
