Laser treatment of acne and difficult skin
What is the acne?
The acne is illness of the fat follicles which most commonly starts at puberty but also is visible at a later age. We observe raised secretion of the oil-glands, accumulation and detainment of epiteloys cells in the initial end of the gland which leads to its clogging and the formation of the so called komedon. An inflammation occurs under the influence of the bacteria that are in the damaged areas.
Where does it occur?
The acne most commonly damages the so called seborean areas of the face, neck, upper part of the back and the chest.
What are the existing treatment methods?
The traditional medical answer in this case is antibiotic therapy – local and general, retinoids (derivatives of vitamin A acid), hormonal means, pilingm dermabrasion, phototerapy etc. All these means lead to increased skin sensitivity and the effect occurs slowly. The newest and contemporary technologies of acne treatment is the Nd:YAG laser.
How does the Nd:YAG laser influence on the damaged skin?
The laser radiated light, through a photochemical reaction, transforms into thermal energy. It is the warming of the derma that leads to stimulation of the process of interaction and regeneration of the skin. The blood circulation increases and improves the nutrition of the skin. This leads to raised local immunity, regulation of the oil-glands function.
What is the feeling like during the procedure?
The procedure is comfortable and pleasant. After it the skin is warm and with a typical pink colour which is visible for about 10-15 min.
