Laser epilation
Every one of us has been in a situation requiring smooth and tender skin and then we start torturing ourselves with the same question – “ How do I get rid of the tedious hairs?” There are plenty of methods from the epilator to waxstrips, razors, and chemical depilation. These are the easiest and the cheapest ways but are also the most problematic. The effect of these methods is undurable, after every procedure the hairs coarsen, often have internal growth and form folliculities. Apart from this , using chemical depilators might leed to allergic reaction of the skin. This is a well known situation for plenty of you, isn’t it? The permanent hair removal might be obtained only through destruction of the hair folliculis, i.e. through epilation. Laser epilation is the most effective, harmless and at the same time having durable effect method for removing the undesired hairs.
What is the essence of the laser epilation and which is its advantage?
During the laser epilation the emitted light is consumed by the pigment in the hair stalk and folliculis is transformed into thermal energy which leads to their extinction. This way the light influences selectively to hair structures without damaging the surrounding skin.
Which are the main advantages of laser epilation?
- Permanent effect after the epilation course;
- Lackofirritation, allergicreactionsorinfectiousfolliculitis;
- The laser light contributes to a quick and effective influence of the existing inflammatory processes;
- Reverse reaction of the skin, related to hairgrowth stimulationis excluded;
- No side reactions of the skin in the treated zone;
Who is this type of procedure suitable for?
For men and women of all skin types.
Which zones could be treated?
All body zones could be subjected to laser epilation – practically there are no restrictions for the treatable zones.
How many procedures are required?
The number of the procedures is individual and depends on a number of factors: hair structure, the treatment zone, age, hormonal background, drug reception etc. Usually, about 7 procedures are required for the body zones and about 10 – for the facial zones.When having a stable hormonal background the good cosmetic effect of the epilation remains from a few months to several years.
Why a course of procedures is required?
Three phases of hair growth could be distinguished. During the first one – active phase, the hair stalk formed in the folliculis is in the process of growth. During the second – phase of peace, the hair is in stable condition. During the third phase – falling of the hair, the stalk is missing and the hair folliculis is a conglutinated pouch of cells. The laser light destroys permanently the hairs that are in active development phase in the time of the procedure. These are about 10-15% of all the hairs in the treated area. The rest of the hairs only delay their growth but are not permanently destroyed. This is exactly why the one time procedure does not gain permanent effect. A course of procedures is required.
What is the procedures’ interval?
The laser epilation course lasts three to five weeks (approximately a month) with interruptions between the procedures.
Do the hairs stop to grow permanently after such a procedure?
There is no such thing as an epilation once and for all. After the laser procedure only the hairs that are in active growth are destroyed, but in our skin there are cells in rudimentary stage from which a new development of the hair begins in a different period of time. Our skin’s hair covering is in a constant stage of selfregeneration.
What is the duration of one laser procedure?
The duration depends mainly on the zone which is being treated. Extremely powerful lasers have the ability to work on an increased frequency of the released impulse, which fastenes the procedure and saves every client's time. The chin epilation and the armpits' one, for example, lasts abot 5-10 min., the bikini zone in general – 20 to 30 minutes, and the whole legs – 1 hour and 30 minutes.
What should we expect from a completed laser procedure?
The hairs don't fall straight after the procedure. This is visible in 10 to 14 days after the epilation. Part of the hair bulbs die and the rest atrophy even after the first procedure. This is visibly displayed by thinnering of the hair stalks, delayed growth and falling off.
How should be prepared the zone that is to be epilated?
Under no circumstances should the hairs be removed by wax strips or any other mechanic method about two to three weeks before the laser treatment. Simultaneously, right before the procedure itself the hairs should be removed by a razor, depilating cream or cut close to the skin. This is necessary in order to be reduced the feeling of discomfort during the procedure.
What is the feeling like during the procedure?
The procedures go quickly and practically painless. Important advantage of the lasers in studios Picasso is the existence of a cooling systems which prevents the skin from warming up. This significantly reduces the painful feeling during the procedure. A slight redness is visible after the procedure, but it vanishes in 5-10 minutes after the treatment.
Is it necessary that additional cosmetic means are being used?
The contemporary laser machines that are used in Picasso there is no need of using additional creams or any other cosmetic products which raise the cost of the procedure. It is also extremely important to be noted that the skin is not harmed regardless the zone of treatment.
What types of laser epilators are there?
All laser studios Picasso work with the last generation lasers – Aleksandrit and Nd: YAG. Each of these laser systems has its advantages and application depending on the hair type.
What is typical for the laser epilation using the Aleksandrit laser?
- Better influence on light and thin hairs;
- Length of the wave 755 nm;
- It is not applied before and after solarium;
- It is not applied in the summer when there is an increased sunshine.
What is typical for laser epilation using the Nd:YAG laser?
- A really good influence on dark and thick hairs;
- Length of the wave 1064nm;
- Theskincouldbeexposedtosun24 hours after the procedure;
- It is appropriate for every season of the year.
How is it estimated which laser to be used?
After a thorough consultation with the Picasso doctors, the suitable laser is estimated so that the procedure could be effective, because every patient is special and has his individual characteristics.
